Our Trip To Pataka
We had a lovely learning time at Pataka. We saw how artworks were created from recycled material.
We looked at how different cultures used art to decorate and welcome visitors to their homes.
In the art work room we had fun making leis our of paper and using plastic to make a lampshade.
We learnt the new three 'R's' ROTATION REFLECTION REPETITION

Our Olympic Visitor
Today we had an awesome surprise as Storm Uru the Olympic bronze medalist in rowing came to visit us. He showed us some photos and shared his story of 'Perseverance' with us. We are learning about Perseverance as one of our school values.
We asked him many questions.

Welcome Back
It is always exciting to hear what the children and their families have been up to in the holidays. Mrs Vernon
had an exciting time cycling the Otago Rail Trail (150 kms) with a friend.
We have begun our term with our first Outdoor Education activity - a walk around Tawa to Willow Bank Park. Tomorrow we are planning to walk the Redwood Bush track. Weather permitting we will then catch the train to Cambourne to walk around the bay and sketch the boat sheds.
I hope you enjoy looking at our photos.

It has been wonderful meeting the new children and parents. Thank you all so much for having their books already, named and labelled. This means we can all start together. Just a reminder to check all clothing is named, especially with swimming starting and that your child has their sun hat each day. Thank you also to the parents who have helped with odd jobs i.e. pasting, labelling, sorting new equipment. There are often little things needing doing by an adult so I do really appreciate any offers of help especially at this stage of the year. I look forward to meeting all parents during the year and please feel free to pop in and have a chat about any concerns. Thanks Bev Vernon
